Henry County car accident kills 8 year old girl

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. —
Henry County Police are investigating a crash that killed an 8-year-old girl Thursday afternoon.
According to police, a Henry County school bus was traveling on State Route 20 when it slowed down and activated its lights to let a student off at a stop. They state that a father driving a blue 1996 Buick Century was possibly distracted when he rear-ended the bus.
The man’s 8-year-old girl was riding in the Buick’s right-rear passenger and was seriously injured, and later pronounced dead.
“The car actually traveled through the corner of the bus. It was extensive damage,” said Henry County Police Lt. Joey Smith.
No injuries were reported by high school students riding the Henry County Schools bus.
Student Kelsei Hartley was riding in the bus and states that she has bruises from the force of the impact.
Police also say there are no signs drugs or alcohol was responsible for this incident.
